History of Architecture

The central columns with bell-capitals are 70 feet high and nearly 12
feet in diameter; the others are smaller and lower, with lotus-bud
capitals, supporting a roof lower than that over the three central
aisles. A clearstory of stone-grated windows makes up the difference in
height between these two roofs. The interior, thus lighted, was splendid
with painted reliefs, which helped not only to adorn the hall but to
give scale to its massive parts. The whole stupendous creation was the
work of three kings--Rameses I., Seti I., and Rameses II. (XIXth
dynasty).

Modern architecture[edit]This is exemplified by the Roman invention of concrete (opus cementicium), a mixture of lime mortar, sand, water, and stones, in the 3rd century BCEAlthough, as in the Renaissance, the style retained all the engineering advances and new materials of the modern eraBBCFirst, many public works (especially religious buildings) were designed with aesthetics in mind, as well as functionalityIn a way, Christianity was a product brand used by secular authorities, to compete for prestige and influence

Gothic ideas gave rise to magnificent cathedrals like Chartres and Notre Dame.1400 to 1600 AD RenaissanceA return to classical ideas ushered an "age of awakening" in Italy, The Science of Spiritual Life: Or the Adaptation of Christianity to the Nature and Condition of Man (Classic Reprint) download epub mobi pdf fb2 and England"Sky well" (): Although large open courtyards are less commonly found in southern Chinese architecture, the concept of an "open space" surrounded by buildings, which is seen in northern courtyard complexes, can be seen in the southern building structure known as the "sky well"Markus Hattstein, Peter DeliusArts, Music, and Recreation &#155 Visual Arts Architecture Timeline - Historic Periods and Styles of the West A Quick Tour of Architectural History Share Pin Email Prehistoric Stonehenge (left) and Moshe Safdie's 2011 Marina Bay Sands Resort in Singapore (right)For details of the greatest architectural designers in the United States, see: American Architects (1700-2000)Main article: Incan architecturev t e Science and technology in China Architecture Astronomy Automotive industry Biotechnology Internet Sermons in Song, Vol. 2: For Use in Gospel Meetings and Other Religious Services (Classic Reprint) download epub mobi pdf fb2 Space program Logic Mathematics Media Mining Nuclear power Railways Supercomputing Telecommunications Cyberwarfare History Inventions Discoveries History of measurement systems Calendar History of metallurgy Ancient coinage Printing Early cartography Maritime history Military history Education Academic grading Higher education Research institutes Science Abby's Bodyguard download epub mobi pdf fb2 People Biologists Chemists Engineers Inventors Mathematicians Nobel laureates Physicians Physicists Science writers Institutes and programs 863 Program Research institutes Chinese Academy of Sciences Chinese Academy of Engineering Chinese Academy of Social Sciences National Natural Science Foundation of China 79c7fb41ad
